Graduating from scarves...
Graduating from scarves...
I hear from so many knitters that they’ve knitted scarf after scarf and don’t know where to go next. Frankly, fuzzy scarves had their day and it’s over. Now they’re only good for winter!
I wanted to create three "graduation projects" that were easy to knit yet beautiful and creative. The first is a beautiful raw silk ribbon shawl, called "
Sail the Nile
". There's also a blue shawl with sequins around the border named
Nancy George Shawl
- luscious!
The first "top" you can master very easily is a cap sleeved top named "
Red in Rome
" that is amazing. This pattern works because of the yarns chosen. There are NO INCREASES OR DECREASES. The only thing you have to do is create a swatch before you begin to make sure your gauge is right. (See the “I can’t believe I’m knitting” video for how to create and measure a gauge – or just call me.)
This simple top is elegant enough for evening but very wearable during the day.
It’s made of silk, and while it costs more than yarn you would pick up at a hobby shop, you’ll never be sorry once you feel it run through your fingers or see the finished product.
