The Sensory Aspect of Knitting
The Sensory Aspect of Knitting
The sensory aspect of knitting
Most of the yarns I’ve chosen are natural fibers like silk and cotton. As much as I love a wool sweater, I don’t get the same feeling from having wool run through my fingers as when I use silk. Knitting will always be about the end result, but the journey is important as well.
Treasure every aspect of the project...
agonizing over the color
ordering the yarn
creating the swatch
making each piece
weaving in the end
blocking each piece
sewing it together
wearing it for the first time!
Please feel free to call me to discuss yarn colors or selection – it’s a step in the project journey and should be fun! Some knitters wonder if it’s really necessary to do the swatch. I say it’s vitally important.
PLEASE DO THE SWATCH
– don’t hate it. It’s kind of like putting make up foundation on under your face powder.
